Corfu

An emerald jewel in the Ionian Sea, the Greek island of Corfu has an abundance of nature, impressive history and cultural wealth. For the many thousands that visit this island every year, its beauty and hospitality is truly unforgettable.

In the past, Corfu has been under Italian and British rule and the cultures of each have left their mark on the island.

The island of Corfu has long been a favourite destination for British holidaymakers. For a few years before WW2, Corfu was home to the Durrell family. Gerald Durrell later wrote three novels based in part on his childhood years living on the island. The most famous of these is My Friends and Other Animals, which is full delightful stories that only increased the island’s popularity.

Corfu enjoys a profusion of green nature, woodlands and forests, as well as many coves and bays in which to moor. The northeast of the island has scenic panoramas of Albania and further south the Greek mainland. There are many restaurants, bars and cafés, serving a variety of cuisines.

Corfu is one of the islands on the yacht charter itinerary in the Ionian Sea and offers many breathtaking beaches.
